The Yellowstone Area is a great learning environment. We offer teen camps throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem that focus on Wilderness Travel, skills development, an appreciation for the landscape and the people and animals that live here.
We offer a variety of camps that focus on Whitewater Kayaking, Expedition Canoeing, Dog Sledding, Fly-Fishing, Primitive Skills/Bushcraft and Wildlife Conservation. All camps emphasize experiential education, leadership, team building, basic bushcraft, camp skills, and wilderness ethics.
Our Camps are led by River Source guides/instructors and complemented by local professionals or authorities on specific topics that are the camps focus.
Our base camp is located on Trail Creek Road, between Bozeman and Emigrant, Montana. Unless specified in the camps description, campers will spend the night in Tipi's and eat breakfast and dinner in Cabins at Base Camp.

This is a great way for kids to learn to kayak. The 3 day/ 2 night camp gives kids a solid foundation in kayak paddling. We start on Daily Lake (near Emigrant, Montana) and then move to the Yellowstone River near Gardiner, Montana. The camp begins with entries, wet exits and basic strokes. They progress to leans, bracing and mastering a slalom course. Efficiency of stroke and rescues are then covered. They continue to use all of these skills in moving water, which can be applied to whitewater or touring. All of these skills are reinforced along the way with fun and games. We camp next to the river at night $250 per person...all gear and meals included
The primitive skills course is not the usual classroom discussion about cavemen and indigenous cultures. In this class, taught with reverence, compassion and humor, kids will experience first-hand the skills and knowledge that our ancestors used to survive, and even thrive, with confidence and respect for their environment. This is an opportunity to step outside of the comfort zone of modern tools and technology, and remember our roots. Kids will learn the magic and practical value of the earth, not just as a source of healthy activities, but also as a source of food, shelter, tools, and perhaps most importantly, a classroom filled with infinite life lessons. Our awareness exercises and games alone will provide simple but powerful keys to unlocking nature's secrets, and serve as strong foundations for our childrens' future experiences, and appreciation of the natural world. This is a great way to engender a respect and responsibility for the outdoor legacy we leave our children. Three Days and two nights/$250 per person
Fly fishing brings many rewards, but perhaps the greatest reward is sharing our passion for the sport among future generations. There is something special about introducing a child to fly fishing, or helping a child develop his or her skills and knowledge of the sport. The camp will cover all aspects of the complete fly-fishing experience, and our ideal location along the Yellowstone River will let us offer an exciting “hands-on” learning experience. The kids will enjoy time focusing on such skills as casting, knot tying, fly tying, entomology, and the all-important concept of habitat conservation through the study of local water restorations. 3 Days/2 nights/$250 per person
This camp spends three full days in Yellowstone and the surrounding area in pursuit of all the great species that call Yellowstone home. As we track wolves, bears, moose, bighorn sheep, etc.. We will be learning about each individual species as we encounter them, as well as, the plants and animals that they interact with in their natural environment. This is a wonderful camp for kids that love wildlife and learning! We focus on animal track identification, scat id, and other clues that animals leave behind. Evening campfire activities include bushcraft skills, smores and games. 3 Days/2 nights/$250 per person
